Week 31 - International Space Station and Ireland beat South Africa

Sunday 5 October 2017. I got up very early to watch the International Space Station go overhead. It was due to appear at 6.05 am, and like always it appeared on-time. It moves so quickly across the sky, making it hard to get a video. However, after a couple of minutes, I managed to get a short one. It's at high zoom and any movement can affect the video. I have slowed it down to half-speed as it's just a few seconds long.

There was also a full moon and I managed to get it at its brightest. So you have a double helping of the sky tonight.

In the afternoon I went for a walk to The Glen. I collected some litter and took a few photos. On the way back I went to the local shop. It was only a short walk of about 2 miles.

Thursday 9 November 2017. I spent some of the afternoon in Armagh City. On the bus, on the way there, I took a short video of the countryside along the Callan River Valley through Tassagh.

I did do a lot of walking in Armagh City today. On arriving home, I changed quickly and went for a run. It was the first time this week. I ran 8 laps of The Glen on the upper paths. On the second lap I did an extra laps of the old reservoir, two on the third, three on the fourth, ... up to seven on the eight lap. I ran all the way home. In total I ran 7.5 miles today. From the third lap on I really pushed myself to get as much in before it got dark. This was my fasted run to date. On the road home I really pushed on and was enjoying it. Overall, I ran 7.5 miles and walked 2.5 miles.

Later I went to a quiz at my youngest brother's pub. Like the previous week, we finished second again, but this time joint second with two other teams.

Saturday 11 November 2017. Today was all about rugby. I didn't plan to go for a run, but I did go for a walk. It was the first day of the autumn internationals. I walked to and around The Glen. It wasn't a long walk, but I did collect some litter and took a few photos. On the walk home I could see the horse hiding in his little house (or stable). I felt sorry for his, as it was cold and he hasn't had an apple in almost a week.

On the way home I walked to the local shop and then changed. I watched Scotland play Samoa. It was a very entertaining game. Scotland kept taking a huge lead, but Samoa always came back at them. It finished 44 - 38 in Scotland's favour. I then went to the pub to watch Ireland v South Africa. Ireland were very good, but two times world champions, South Africa, were poor. Final score 38 - 3 to Ireland. At home again and I watched Denmark play Republic of Ireland (0-0) in soccer and caught up on Wales v Australia on BBC iPlayer. It was a close win for the Aussies.

Although, I didn't run today, I did walk about 2.5 miles. It hasn't been a great week for my "Long Run Back to Fitness", but I don't count it as a setback. In total I ran 7.5 miles and walked 7 miles.
